Why join one of our creative writing classes?
Inky Storyteller creative writing classes nurture students’ creativity and confidence while providing an outlet for self-expression and helping them grow as writers. Each class begins with a unique source of inspiration, which could range from a narrative or song lyrics to characters, events, music, art, objects, films, news stories, or places—anything goes!
Alongside inspiration, every session focuses on honing a specific writing skill. This might include exploring descriptive language, like adjectives, or delving into techniques such as using perspective in narrative.
The atmosphere is relaxed and encouraging, designed to make writing enjoyable while building students’ confidence and enthusiasm for storytelling.
How do creative writing classes work?
- Each class runs for 4 or 5 weeks, depending on the focus and theme.
- Students attend a session each week at the same time (these vary in length depending on the age of students and the content).
- Each student is provided with a writing journal to record their work during sessions.
- Students receive detailed feedback on their writing during and between sessions.
- Groups are small, with a maximum of six students.
- Some classes work towards submitting entries for writing competitions.
