Why join one of our book groups?
The purpose of Inky Storyteller book groups is to inspire a love of reading in young people. By reading the book progressively over several weeks, participants can explore sections in detail during sessions. Each course focuses on reading for empathy and developing reading comprehension skills. Through a variety of creative activities, children are encouraged to think deeply about character, theme, and plot, making reading an interactive and enriching experience.
How do book groups work?
- Each book group runs for 4 or 5 weeks, depending on the length of the book.
- Children attend a one-hour session each week at the same time.
- Children receive their copy of the book in the first session.
- Each child is provided with a book journal to record their thoughts and work during the sessions.
- Children are given a set page count to read between sessions.
- Groups are small, with a maximum of six students.
- Some book groups conclude with a final session where the group records a book review podcast as a team.
